Our Story
About Us
We’re a small, family-run business operated by husband and wife, Patrick and Grace. Grace is a science enthusiast, having completed the Dean’s Scholars Accelerated Honours Program in Science to achieve both her Bachelor and Honours Degrees in Chemistry in 3 Years, followed by a PhD in Organic Chemistry. Patrick has always been business minded, delving into the world of website design at a young age and working in IT sales, having completed a Bachelor of Information Technology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Secondary Education.
The company started in 2010 with just Grace tutoring in-home while waiting for her PhD to be confirmed. Demand became too great so Grace hired other likeminded tutors and she and Patrick combined their skills to grow the company from there, opening their first Learning Centre in 2011. While the early days were spent with Patrick on reception and Grace tutoring full-time, the couple now have a supportive team and have slowed down to enjoy their growing family including their two dogs, Simba and Nala.
Our Mission
To empower students to be confident in their academic pursuits and personal endeavours.
Our goal is to put your child in a class of their own through offering the very best personal tutoring available. We believe that this is the most effective avenue to build your child’s confidence, which is essential for them to enjoy and succeed in their schooling. Education is a critical tool in today’s world to open doors for future opportunities and we feel privileged to play a small role in setting students on the right path for success.
Our Methods
Tutoring is not just about the transference of knowledge but rather about developing a rapport with the student and finding the best possible method to develop their understanding. This is why computer-based learning and group environments aren’t effective. Instead, our tutoring is one-on-one using pen and paper, such as worksheets and tactile activities for younger students or textbook questions and discussion for high schoolers. Our method allows us to tailor tuition to your child and meet them where they are at to progress from there.
Our Tutors
When hiring our tutors we don’t just look for the highest ATAR as it’s important to not just have a smart tutor but also have a tutor you can communicate with. Our tutors are experienced, friendly and committed to building your child’s confidence in their schoolwork. Check out some of the profiles for our Learning Centre tutors.
In the Community
As a local business, our best resource is you, the community. We’ve been part of the community for over 12 years now and love to give back when we can through charitable partnerships and event days. Whether it’s our tutors wearing their pyjamas to work for National Pyjama Day to support education for foster kids or helping to Clean Up Australia, we try to get involved in tangible ways with our broader community. However, we also really appreciate our smaller community – our clients and our tutors. For our clients, we offer extra free activities from time to time, such as our Science Workshops, and we love to get to know our tutors outside of the Learning Centres through BBQs and activities.
Testimonials
We think we’re doing a great job but you don’t have to take our word for it. Check out what some of our clients have to say!
