How it Works

1. Submit an enquiry form or call us.

As we’re a family business, you’ll end up speaking with Patrick.

2. We take the time to chat with you about your student’s needs.

Are they struggling to keep up or looking to excel? Are they shy or do they get along with anyone? Do they have any preferences for their tutor? We like to take everything into consideration to ensure we can organise the right tutor for you.

3. It’s then time for details!

Contact details of course, but also availability, year level and subjects. We know for high school it can get confusing … is it General Math, Math Methods, Specialist Math or a combination? If you can find out ahead of time, it is a definite help!

4. We’ll secure a timeslot.

We can then provide tutor options based on YOUR requirements and YOUR availability, rather than just slotting you in.

5. Paperwork.

We complete all our paperwork electronically so you can peruse it in your own time at home.

6. Start Tutoring.

We can’t wait to welcome you to one of our Learning Centres and introduce you to your tutor.

One-off Tuition

Organised As Required
$ 80 Per Hour
  • No Sign-Up Fee
  • GST Included
  • Multiple Payment Options
  • Ability to Reschedule within 8 Hours
  • No Minimum Number of Sessions

If your student has a specific topic they need to revise or want help getting started with an assignment, one-off tuition can be useful. However, we strongly recommend that you:

  • Set clear goals for the session and communicate these.
  • Consider how much time is needed. Remember that the tutor is starting from the beginning so it takes time to understand your student’s requirements.
  • Come prepared with all relevant classwork, textbooks, assignment task sheets, etc.
  • Start early. For example, revision sessions are best starting at least a week before a test and assignment work is most successful if reviewed first at the planning stage with our tutors then followed up later.

Your  Commitment

How long does tuition take to work? That’s a very common question and we’d be lying if we gave you an exact answer. We believe that tuition requires a commitment to the learning process and is not a short-term fix. A major component of schooling is to ‘learn to learn’ and our tutors aim to instil skills and strategies into our students rather than simply providing them with the right answers. Every student is different, learns differently and progresses at a different rate.

To this end, rather than a lock-in contract, we have a Tuition Cycle which involves a weekly commitment each term and allows the following three main phases of tuition to take place:

  1. Assisting a student to learn.
  2. Preparing for exams or assignments.
  3. Clarifying issues and introducing new work.

Undertaking regular tuition allows students to gain confidence and enjoyment in their subjects and teaches discipline and commitment. At the very minimum, we recommend that you commit to one term (10 Weeks) of tuition. If students are behind, it will take time for them to catch-up then they may need continual support to stay in line with their classmates.

Your  Inclusions

Primary School

As our tuition is one-on-one we can adapt to suit your needs. You might want us to tackle specific topics, work through homework and assignments or undertake extension tasks. However, many families know their student needs help but are not sure where to start. To solve this, we have a plan and it’s all included in the weekly tuition fee.

  1. Complete an assessment at the first session.

We offer Math and English Assessments for new students in Prep to Year 6. The assessments are based on the Content Descriptions of The Australian Curriculum and provide us with an excellent overview of your student’s competencies, allowing us to create a list of goals for the tuition.

  1. Obtain a term outline or information from the student’s school teacher (optional).

We have found that tuition is most effective if it is composed of proactive development of core skills and reactive consolidation of schoolwork.

  1. Preparation is completed.

Based on the goals from the assessment and information from school, we prepare worksheets and activities that aim to strengthen knowledge.

  1. Receive a report.

We collate the tutor’s notes and your student’s responses to write a detailed report for you that dot points exactly how your student performed and provides a very clear list of goals for the tuition. We provide this report at the second session.

  1. Tuition begins.

We believe it is vital to keep lines of communication open so encourage feedback and provide students with a folder to display their tuition work.

  1. Adapt as we go.

Students will pick up some topics quickly and take more time with others. We also understand priorities will change. Therefore, while we have a plan and preparation, it’s not static and we adapt it as needed.

Secondary School

We’ve found that once students are in high school, their preference is for tuition to be more reactive than proactive. During our sessions, we note difficult areas and encourage going back to basics where needed. However, for the majority of the session, we focus on the content the student is covering at school.

  • We encourage students to bring in assignments as soon as possible so we can assist with developing a strong plan that meets the marking curriculum.
  • Whether it’s research, analysis or framing ideas, we help students to create the content for their assignment.
  • With continual editing, we can assist your student to present their ideas eloquently and succinctly ensuring the best draft is submitted.
  • Our tutors then help students to interpret and apply feedback to strengthen the final assignment.

Our approach is:

Review

We’ll go back over classwork with your student to ensure they understand the content and we can re-teach them anything they are unsure about, perhaps in a different way that just clicks.

Consolidate

It’s important to complete practice questions and apply knowledge to ensure there is a deep understanding.

Work Ahead

Where possible, it’s fantastic if we can work ahead with your student so when they are presented with content in class they are already familiar with it. This way, they are more confident asking and answering questions.

Revise

It’s never too early to start revising. For the math and sciences, we have a range of textbooks to ensure your student will never be short on practice questions and for English and humanities, we can source specific material to reinforce and practice content

If your student needs to work on core Math and English skills, we do offer assessments up to Year 10 upon request and can undertake the same proactive approach as with primary school tuition.
